Ben offers Osteopathic Manipulation treatments for a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, improving flexibility and performance for athletes, providing relief for patients suffering from chronic musculoskeletal complaints, as well as using specialty modalities for prenatal patients.
Born and raised in Roseburg, Oregon, Ben was first introduced to Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT), shadowing his uncle who has his own OMT practice in Salem where he works to this day. The dramatic improvements patients had with minimally invasive techniques inspired him to pursue a medical program that offered osteopathy in addition to training as a medical Doctor.
Ben earned his degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy in 2011 from A.T. Still University in Kirksville MO, named after Dr. Andrew Taylor Still who originally founded osteopathic medicine in the late 1800s. Following this he moved to Buffalo, NY where he completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2014, serving as Chief Resident.
Being a pacific northwest native, he was itching to get back home to the northwest following residency. He has spent his career working in a few Emergency Departments throughout Oregon and Washington where he ha s been incorporating OMT modalities into his practice.
When not working, Dr. Rader is more than likely on a river or in the gorge, fly-fishing for Steelhead with his wife and two dogs.
Josh is a board certified Physician Associate (PA) who has worked in acute care for over 10 years with experience treating orthopedic injuries and chronic pain.
Originally from Springfield, Oregon, Josh moved with his family to Maine where he experienced the outdoors surrounding the “other Portland”. In 2000 he relocated to Phoenix to attend Arizona State University studying Biology and Kinesiology.
This led him to pursue a Masters as a PA from Midwestern University which is a leading Osteopathic Medical school. During rotations in the Emergency Department, Internal Medicine, and Sports medicine, Josh was able to see first-hand how Osteopathic treatment could apply these modalities not just for healing, but to increase athletic performance and prevent injuries.
After graduation Josh returned to the Portland area where he has worked in the Emergency department incorporating OMT modalities to help patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neuropathic injuries that are often difficult to treat.
In practice Josh focuses on identifying upstream causes of injuries and helping people heal comprehensively using gentle OMT techniques. Outside of work you find him out on a disc-golf course or hiking through the gorge with his family.
